Why should I choose PurpleDumpster.com?
That is an easy question to answer. We have purple dumpsters! On a serious note, PurpleDumpster.com is a family owned and operated company who prides itself on offering great customer service and competitive pricing. We are large enough to accommodate every customer, but small enough to provide the level of service you would expect from a one-person operation.

Information on the dumpster rental ordering process.

How do I order a dumpster?

You can order a dumpster/rolloff two ways. You can order 24 hours a day online through our website. The other method is to call our office. You can reach us directly at 203-481-8324. Mon through Fri: 8am to 4pm. If you have questions prior to ordering your dumpster, you can email us 24/7. Live chat is also available during normal business hours.

How long can I keep the dumpster?

Internet specials are 1 week rentals, which are AUTOMATICALLY removed after 1 week. Our standard dumpster rentals include 2 weeks, but are NOT removed automatically. The first two weeks are included with the dumpster/rolloff rental. If you do not call to schedule removal within the 2 weeks, rental is billed at $20 per day or $99 per week.

How far in advance do I need to order a container?

We can get the dumpster to you the next business day, or even the same day if scheduling permits. Dumpsters ordered after our normal business hours, (8am to 4pm) Mon-Fri, cannot be guaranteed next day delivery. However, we will do our best to accommodate your desired delivery date when possible.

Is a permit or license required?

A dumpster or roll off container that is placed on a public property (i.e. a street or parking lot) may require a permit. For example, the City of New Haven requires a permit for any dumpster placed on the street. Additionally, some municipalities require that you obtain one for dumpster placement on private property as well. These rules are generally put in place so that neighbors don't need to deal with dumpsters that may be an eyesore for extended periods of time. To be on the safe side, check with your city/town before ordering. Waste Tech Family Refuse will not place a dumpster in the street without verification of a permit being issued.

Payment methods we accept, fees, etc.

When do I pay for the dumpster?

Your credit/debit card will be billed for the initial amount upon ordering. Any overweight charges are billed to your card upon removal, once we receive the weight ticket from the transfer station. If the dumpster had one of the items listed as an additional charge, these charges will also be charged to your card upon removal. An invoice will be e-mailed once the job has been completed, detailing all charges concerning your dumpster rental.

Do you add a "fuel surcharge"?

Our company does not believe in adding a fuel surcharge on top of our pricing. Some dumpster companies can add as much as 15-20% to your bill to cover the costs of fuel. We like to keep it simple, and prefer to let you know about all fees up front. When calling around, be sure to ask if the company adds a fuel surcharge to your bill.

Does the price include delivery and removal?
Yes, our pricing includes delivery, removal, the specified amount of weight & the rental period noted. We do not have a separate delivery or removal fee, as some companies do.
What do you mean $190 per ton if over?
Each of our dumpster rentals includes a certain amount of weight. If you exceed that weight, the charge is pro-rated at $190 per ton. For example, lets say you rented a 15 yard dumpster with 1 ton included. If the contents of your dumpster weighed 1.1 tons, the extra .10(200 lbs) ton would cost $19.00.
I didn't fill the dumpster, how did I go overweight?
How much you fill the dumpster does not matter, it is the weight of the materials that affects the cost. You could fill the dumpster and not exceed the weight. On the flip side, you may only fill the dumpster 1/4 of the way and be overweight. For example, 1/4 of a 30 yard full of dirt will easily outweigh a FULL 30 yard of household furniture/junk. It is all dependent on the weight of the materials you put in the dumpster, not the volume.

Information concerning the delivery of your dumpster rental.

How soon can I get the dumpster delivered?

Same day dumpster/rolloff service, based on availability, is available for the following Connecticut cities/towns: Branford, Clinton, East Haven, Guilford, Madison, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven & West Haven. If your town is not listed, the standard delivery time for a dumpster is within 1 business day of ordering. You can always call/email to see if same day is available for your city/town, as our schedule varies each day.

Do you give exact delivery times for your dumpsters?

We will do our best to get you your dumpster / rolloff at your requested delivery time, but we cannot guarantee an exact time. When placing your order, you can request a time frame and we will do our best to accommodate you. If you call back on the day of delivery, we can narrow it down based on our schedule and driver feedback (How traffic is, if there are any delays, etc). Our drivers are on the road from 5am to 5pm, so please keep this in mind when ordering. While we would love to get everyone their dumpster early in the day, sometimes it is just not possible. Fridays are especially busy, so if you have to have it in the morning our best suggestion is to have it delivered on Thursday.

Where can we put the dumpster?

We recommend that the dumpster be placed on a hard, level surface. Please be conscious of your septic system and leaching field areas. A waiver will have to be signed if the dumpster is being placed on a surface other than asphalt. Our vehicles, as well as the dumpster itself, are very heavy and may cause damage to soft surfaces such as grass. If it has rained recently we recommend avoiding placement on your lawn/in your yard.

Is there a door on the dumpster?

Yes, there is a door in the rear of the dumpster or rolloff container. This allows for easy loading of heavier items. We recommend you walk in the bigger items first, then you can throw the smaller items over the side and fill in the space.

Can I have the dumpster door face the street?
Unfortunately the dumpster only comes off our truck one way, with the door facing the property. Unless you have a very large amount of room for our truck to turnaround on your property, there is no way for us to position the dumpster so it faces the street.

What can/can't go in our dumpsters and other helpful tidbits.

What types of materials are allowed in the dumpster?

Wood, sheet rock, insulation, cardboard, metal, furniture, toys, plastic, roofing debris & other materials. If you have questions as to whether a material is allowed in the dumpster, please call or email us.

What items are considered hazardous and cannot go in the dumpster?
  • ANTIFREEZE – Contact your city/town for disposal sites
  • AMMUNITION – Contact state police
  • ASBESTOS – Removal by licensed contractor required
  • AUTO BATTERIES – Auto service centers or your city/town transfer station
  • BIOLOGICAL OR NUCLEAR WASTE – Contact original supplier
  • CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES – Same as medications
  • EXPLOSIVES/FIREWORKS – Contact state police
  • FLUORESCENT LIGHTS - Contact your town for disposal sites.
  • MEDICAL WASTE – Put in leak-proof, puncture-proof container and put in regular household trash (not in dumpster)
  • SMALL BUSINESS HAZWASTE – Contact Hazwaste Central 203-401-2712
  • UNUSED MEDICATIONS – Remove labels, put in secondary container and put in regular trash (not in dumpster)
  • WASTE MOTOR OIL – Contact your town for disposal sites.
  • PAINT – Contact your town for disposal sites.
Can we mix yard debris in the dumpster?

Yard debris, brush, bushes, etc. are permitted in our containers. You can mix it in the dumpster with other household items. Tree stumps and branches larger than 4 inches in diameter are not permitted. Please contact us for disposal options for trees/stumps.

Can we put bricks/dirt/rocks/asphalt/concrete in the dumpster?

Large quantities of concrete, asphalt, dirt, stumps, etc. are not permitted in our dumpsters. If you have more than 1 cubic yard of this material please contact us prior to ordering your dumpster rental. FYI a cubic yard of brick weighs roughly 3,000 lbs. Do you charge extra for certain items?

Yes, there are additional charges for certain items.

  • Car Tires - $15.00 each
  • Truck Tires - $30.00 each
  • Propane Tanks - $15.00 each
  • Freon Units - $30.00 each
  • Computer Monitors/Televisions - $30.00 each
  • Mattresses/Box Springs - $30.00 each

These charges are assessed by the third party transfer stations we use. To save money, check with your town to see if they take the items.

  • When ordering, please specify exactly where and how you want the dumpster on your property. There will be an additional charge if a driver has to come back and move the dumpster due to poor or vague directions.
  • We need at least 12 feet of height and 11 feet of width in order to safely navigate your driveway and place the dumpster. If you think the driveway/access point may be an issue as far as getting our truck through, please contact us before scheduling the delivery of your dumpster.
  • Please ensure the area where the dumpster will be placed is not obstructed in any way. If, due to no fault of PurpleDumpster.com, a dumpster cannot be delivered or removed, the customer will be assessed a hauling fee for our time. This fee is dependent on the distance of the location from our main office.
  • Materials must be evenly distributed and cannot exceed the rim of the dumpster. If a dumpster is overloaded, the customer is responsible for ensuring the load is secured for transportation, or removing the excess material. Our drivers will not remove the excess material for you. We are not responsible for any excess material left behind.
  • PurpleDumpster.com requires 1 business day notice in order to change a scheduled delivery/removal. This means contacting our office by 4pm the business day prior to your delivery/removal date. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm. For example, if your delivery/removal is on a Monday, you need to contact our office by 4pm on Friday to avoid any additional fees. 11pm on a Sunday night is not enough notice. A trip fee of $150.00 will be assessed for last minute changes, or if we arrive on site and you want to keep the dumpster longer or refuse the delivery.
